Congress MP Rayapati Sambasiva Rao's allegations against the Rosaiah cabinet - that it is
filled with corrupt ministers - have sparked off a fusillade of reactions.
The primary opposition, the TDP, is delirious, of course. While Sambasiva
Rao back-tracked to say that his allegations were restricted to Kanna
Lakshminarayana, TDP leader Yerram Naidu went one step further than even
what Sambasiva Rao said originally to specifically name 3 ministers whom he
accused of land-grabbing - Ponnala Lakshmaiah, Subhash Chandra Bose and
Dharmana Prasada Rao.
The leader of another opposition party, the BJP, Bandaru Dattatreya, said
that the CM Rosaiah should make a statement on Sambasiva Rao's allegations.
He added that if Rosaiah chose not to, it would amount to an admission that
he is hand-in-glove with the corrupt ministers and is therefore shielding
them.
As for the accused ministers themselves, while Prasada Rao turned out to be
the bravest by asking for a high-level probe into the allegations, the
others asked for nothing of that sort. While Bose stuck to condemning the
allegations, there were murmers of threats of defamation suit by Lakshmaiah
and Lakshminarayana. However, popular opinion is that they will not
aggravate matters, hoping instead that the issue will die a natural death.
