The advisory panel members of Cental Board of Film Certification (CBFC) on Wednesday seized the prints of Ravi Teja-starrer
Veera from the Odeon theatre at the RTC X Roads.
CBFC members Shobha Shankar, Sudhakar Yadav, Padmavathy and Dharma Rao watched the movie at the Odeon theatre after being alerted of the screening of censored footage at the cinema hall. The members were reportedly taken aback to find that not only were 6 scissored parts of the film screened, but additional scenes had been incorporated too.
Shobha Shankar explained that any movie is first submitted to the Board, and that CBFC members advise the movie makers of the necessary editing to be carried out to make the film fit for the public. After the suggested changes are made, the film is screened once again for the Board, and a CBFC certificate is then awarded to the movie.
At Odeon, the uncensored version of Veera was being screened, and the producer is also reported to have added extra scenes, one of which involved a snake. This violates yet another rule, as any footage involving animals is required to be cleared by the Animal Welfare Board Of India.
The film reel was immediately seized by the CBFC, and handed over the print to the Chikkadpally police.
