Civil Supplies Minister D Sridhar Babu on Wednesday stated that the government would set up DPL centres to distribute ration cards in the state.
Talking to media persons after participating in Rachabanda organized at 31st division, Subhash Nagar, in Karimnagar district, the minister said the government would distribute ration cards to all eligible persons through DPL centres from February 15th.
Sridhar Babu said the government had received requisitions from 7 lakh families seeking ration cards from across the state. Out of these, the government has decided to issue temporary ration cards to 5.5 lakh families.
The minister said the government was implementing Aadhar cards for first time in 7 districts. After the success of the pilot program, the government will extend the facility to the remaining 13 districts.
Sridhar Babu said the government would distribute white ration cards to all eligible families based on economic data.
