According to the CBI counsel, former chairman of Satyam Computer Services, B Ramalinga Raju, has been visited by around 235 people since he was bought into the NIMS for the treatment of Hepatitis-C, in spite of the court issuing orders that he was allowed to meet only his wife and his son.
The CBI deputy legal advisor B Ravindranath, accompanied by special counsel K Surendra, presented a list of visitors to the CBI court on Wednesday. The CBI, suspecting that the visitors secured access to Raju in the name of his counsels, said the majority of them were advocates and others likewise, with each spending atleast 30 minutes in discussion with him.
Ravindranath accused Raju not only of prolonging the trial by citing ill-health (thereby halting the proceedings), but also of influencing witnesses.
In response, senior civil judge B V L N Chakravarthy - the special judge appointed to try the Satyam case - instructed the superintendent of Chanchalguda Central Prison to furnish a report detailing the reason behind the happenings and the details of the visitors as well.
