The High Court on Tuesday granted bail to former Satyam managing director Rama Raju and 4 other accused in the infamous multi-crore accounting fraud.
Former chief financial officer Vadlamani Srinivas, G Ramakrishna, Venkatapati Raju and Ch Srisailam were also granted bail on Tuesday.
Rama Raju is the brother of main accused and founder of Satyam Computers, B Ramalinga Raju. He was the managing director of the firm when it collapsed after Ramalinga Raju accepted that he had fudged accounts to the tune of crores of rupees.
The bail comes even as the prosecution expressed fears to the court that the key accused could attempt to tamper with the evidence and try to influence witnesses.
Except for main accused Ramalinga Raju, 9 of the 10 accused have been granted bail so far by various courts on separate occasions.
Last month, the high court had
granted bail to former Pricewaterhouse Cooper auditor S Gopalakrishna and internal auditor Prabhakar Gupta, while in February this year, Srinivas Talluri, also a PwC auditor, had been granted bail.
In March 2009, another brother of Ramalinga Raju, Suryanarayana Raju, had been granted anticipatory bail.
Ramalinga Raju's bail plea was rejected bail by the high court last month.
Ramalinga Raju is currently undergoing 'treatment' at the Nizam's Institute Of Medical Sciences, for Hepatitis C.
