Ram Gopal Varma Slams SIT For Grilling Puri Jagannadh
Extending support in the drugs case to the noted film director, Varma criticised the Telangana Excise Department for concentrating so much on the former.
Extending support to noted Telugu film director Puri Jagannadh in the drugs case, another noted director Ram Gopal Varma today criticised the Telangana Excise Department for concentrating so much on the former.
In a post on Facebook, Verma asked the SIT sleuths whether they would grill school children similarly, too.
He sarcastically said that the media was showing Excise Director Akun Sabharwal as Bahubali.
"I wonder whether the schoolchildren taking drugs too would be summoned by the SIT and interrogated for 12 hours like Puri and Subbaraju? Of course, everyone knows drug evil exists in the society, but for the first time everyone is hearing about the Excise department only because they are using the film industry as a teaser trailer for people to come to know of their existence. Akun Sabharwal is being projected like Amarendra Bahubali by the media. Maybe S S Rajamouli should make Bahubali 3 with him," he said in his post.
Movie Artistes Association (MAA) president Sivaji Raja however lashed out at Varma's comments. He said that Varma did nothing for the industry, and need not be taken seriously.
He said that there would be no impact on the probe whatever anyone from the industry said. The actual facts would come out from the SIT's interrogation, he said.
