Not Targeting Film Artists: Excise Commissioner
Telangana Excise Commissioner Chandravadan said the drugs mafia was reaching even school children, and hence the department was probing every possible lead.
Slamming allegations that the excise department was targeted only the film industry, Telangana Excise Commissioner Chandravadan said that the drugs mafia could have a major impact on all of society and especially school children, and so the department was probing every angle to get more clues that could help it eliminate the menace.
Speaking to the media on Saturday, Chandravadan said that the drugs issue was quite sensitive as its impact had spread even to school-going children, and hence the department was conducting a thorough interrogation of even addicts, who could lead to the peddlars, so as to protect future generations from the evil.
Claiming that the department had received strict instructions from the Chief Minister with regard to the drugs case, Chandravadan said that they were moving ahead carefully and exploring every possible lead, and that the interrogations of the film personalities were a part of that.
He asked the media to extend cooperation to the department and not demoralise it.
Today, film actor Tarun and the owners of various pubs appeared before the interrogators.
