The State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) has asked the police commissioner of Hyderabad, Anurag Sharma, to submit a report on the alleged
attack on two software engineers by Telugu actor Ram Charan Teja's bodyguards.
Even though the two techies - Phaneesh and Kalyan - had declined from lodging a formal complaint against the actor, it seems that Ram Charan will not be able to escape an encounter with the law after all.
Salim, a lawyer, has filed a petition with the SHRC, seeking action against the film star for prompting the attack on the two employees in broad daylight, and that too, on a busy intersection in the city.
The Telangana Advocates Joint Action Committee (TAJAC) has approached the Hyderabad Police, and has insisted on the registration of a suo moto case against Ram Charan Teja.
SHRC has directed the police to submit its explanation on the matter by June 18.
In a statement made to the media, the co-convener of TAJAC, T Sriranga Rao, claims that the two software engineers were "threatened and intimidated in the police station to not lodge any complaint".
Meanwhile, Ram Charan Teja has reportedly told the media that the two techies "put up this drama on the road with the intention to grab my attention near the traffic signal".
According to the Indian Express, Ram Charan has said that the two men had also submitted (in writing) the fact that they had brushed against Ram Charan's Aston Martin in a bid to gain his attention.
"The two boys came and apologised for their rash driving and for their bad behaviour," the actor said. (with inputs from INN)
