Rajagopal Reddy left Congress For Own Development, Not People: Congress

Congress leader Shabbir Ali said that Munugodu MLA Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy was defecting for his own development and not for the people of Munugodu.
Hyderabad | 3rd August 2022
Former minister and senior Congress leader Mohammed Ali Shabbir said that Munugodu MLA Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy was defecting from the party for his own development and not for the development of the people of Telangana or Munugodu.

Addressing a press conference in the Kamareddy DCC office, Shabbir Ali said that Reddy had meetings with BJP National President J P Nadda and other leaders at a time when Congress President Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi were summoned by the Enforcement Directorate and the entire party was protesting against the harassment.

He said that Reddy got an identity and made a fortune only due to the Congress. Reddy enjoyed several positions in the Congress, and his family (his brother is Komatireddy Venkat Reddy) got recognition and reputation due to the Congress and not vice-versa, Shabbir Ali claimed, and said that Reddy must introspect on the reasons being given by him to leave the party.

Referring to Rajagopal Reddy's admission that he had met Home Minister Amit Shah several times in the past, Shabbir Ali said that the Munugode MLA had effectively admitted to acting like a BJP spy in the Congress, getting big contracts in return from the BJP-ruled States.

Shabbir Ali also condemned Rajagopal Reddy for his criticism of TPCC President Revanth Reddy. Shabbir Ali said that senior leaders who had served the Congress for over 30 years were working under the leadership of Revanth Reddy without any issues. He added that it was Congress high command that had made Revanth Reddy the TPCC President, and that it was the duty of all Congress leaders and workers to respect the decision.

He said that when Komatireddy Venkat Reddy was aspiring to become the TPCC President, Rajagopal Reddy had approached him (Shabbir Ali) and called his elder brother mentally unsound. He added that Rajagopal Reddy had himself proposed that Revanth Reddy be made the TPCC President, and had even gone to Delhi to lobby in favour of Revanth Reddy.

Shabbir Ali warned Rajagopal Reddy about speaking against the Congress and Revanth Reddy. He said that the Congress would fight and win the Munugode seat whenever by-elections were held.
