The lone BJP member elected to the Telangana Legislative Assembly, Raja Singh (MLA for the Goshamahal constituency in the city), who is known for controversial statements, announced today that he would not attend the Assembly session slated to start from January 17 as long as the MIM member Mumtaz Ahmed Khan was in the Chair as pro tem Speaker.
Singh found fault with Chief Minister KCR's decision to make the MIM Member the pro tem Speaker, and asked him to reconsider the decision. Claiming that the MIM habitually insulted Hindus and that its leaders never said Vande Maataram or Bharat Maata Ki Jai, Singh said that reversing the decision would be in the best interests of Telangana.
"KCR has taken his decision and now I will take my decision," he proclaimed. He said that he would announce his future course of action after consulting constitutional experts.
