Congress president Rahul Gandhi will participate in the next phase of the Congress' Praja Chaitanya Bus Yatra which is likely to begin in the first week of August.
Gandhi is likely to address a series of street corner meetings as part of the yatra in Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy. The date and venue are likely to be finalised in the next few days.
So far, in the last three phases of the bus yatra, Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president N Uttam Kumar Reddy covered 40 Assembly constituencies. The bus yatra was halted in June in view of Ramzan. Having completed other programs pertaining to the strengthening of the organisation, the party has reportedly decided to resume the yatra next month.
Addressing a press conference at the AICC headquarters in Delhi on Monday, Reddy said that the party was planning to ensure an early release of its manifesto and also an early announcement of its candidates. He said that a delay in the release of the party's manifesto and KCR's lucrative promises were the main reasons behind the party's loss in the 2014 elections. Therefore he said that the manifesto, at both the national and the state levels, would be released early this time.
