Rebel YSR Congress Party MP K Raghurama Krishna Raju today responded to the complaint lodged by YSRCLP leader Margani Bharat against him with Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla.
After Bharat yesterday submitted a memorandum to Birla seeking Raju's disqualification from the post of MP under the tenth schedule of the Constitution for indulging in anti-party activities, Raju released a letter to the media in which he claimed that he had not acted against the rules of the YSRCP and that he had not joined hands with any other political outfit against the interest of his party.
He did however state that he had spoken out about the defects in the implementation of various welfare programs of the YSRCP government, and that this certainly did not provide to the Speaker the grounds to disqualify him from the house. He added that the false nature of Bharat's claims would soon be evident to all.
The rebel MP claimed that he had tried to "rescue" his party from the hands of some wrongdoers.
Commenting on the controversy surrounding the
ill-treatment meted out to him by CID officials, he revealed that he would be moving a privilege motion in the Lok Sabha to seek redress.
Raju made these clarifications after Bharat appealed to the Speaker to oust him from his MP post. In his complaint, Bharat claimed that the party had made the same request several times in the past as well.
