After almost 3 weeks of hospitalization, Satya Sai Baba of Puttaparthi is reported to be in coma by certain sections of the media. According to some reports, Dr. Safaya, Director of the Sathya Sai Institute Of Higher Medical Sciences, has stated that Baba's liver is malfunctioning, and that Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) is being performed on him to facilitate ventilation.
According to the bulletin released by Dr. Safaya this morning, "his (Baba's) vital systems, including the liver, are showing minimal response to treatment, which is a cause of worry to the doctors who are treating him". The inconsistency in the information about Sathya Sai Baba's health over the past several days is making his devotees restless.
When asked to comment on Baba's health, representatives of the Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust referred to the medical bulletin released by the SSIHMS, and chose to remain tight-lipped. Sources close to Sathya Sai Baba suspect a brewing conspiracy, with the possibility of the trust being involved.
Other media reports, however, have not stated anything about Sathya Sai Baba being in coma.
