A high alert has been sounded in Hyderabad following the terrorist attack in Gurdaspur in Punjab.
In the wake of the attack, the Centre has instructed the state governments to be on high alert and take all necessary precautions, and consequently in Hyderabad security has been beefed up at the Shamshabad airport, bus stations and railway stations, and a strict vigil is being maintained at various vulnerable places, including the Old City.
The police intensified checking by GRP and RPF personnel in the Secunderabad railway station, and also thoroughly checked shopping malls, hotels and bus stops in many areas.
Meanwhile, the AP government also initiated steps to strengthen security along the Visakhapatnam beach, and strict security measures were put in place.
