Telangana Advocates' Joint Action Committee leaders have urged the state government to order a full-fledged CBI enquiry into the de-notification of a 9-acre piece of land in Ameerpet during the reign of former chief minister K Rosaiah, which had resulted in a loss of Rs. 200 crore to the government.
In a petition submitted to the Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, High Court Advocate Sriranga Rao demanded that an impartial enquiry into the alleged scam was essential, especially in view of the fact that former Chief Minister K Rosaiah, who was named in the scam, has been
elevated to the post of the Governor of Tamil Nadu.
Finding fault with the ACB Court
verdict giving Rosaiah a clean chit, the Advocates' JAC said it would approach the High Court against the verdict.
The Advocates' JAC has also demanded a CBI inquiry into the allotment of lands made to IT companies in and around Hyderabad.
According to the JAC, the TDP government had entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with K Raheja Corporation on 10 June 2002, for the allotment of 115 acres of land at Madhapur in Rangareddy district. The allotment, claims the JAC, had caused the state a loss of Rs. 500 crore.
In view of the deal struck by Neil Raheja, Managing Director of Raheja Corporation, with former Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, the APIIC and IT & C departments had agreed for a meagre 0.55% share instead of a 11% share, causing a loss of Rs. 500 crore to the state, said the Telangana Advocates JAC in its representation to the Chief Minister.
Further, Raheja floated another company - Strargaze properties - which was also allotted another piece of land of 100 acres, in the Special Economic Zone in Maheshwaram mandal, Rangareddy district, stated Sriranga Rao in his petition.
Sriranga Rao appealed to the state government to order a CBI enquiry into the whole issue of irregular allotments of land, failing which, he said, the JAC would move the High Court for seeking justice. (INN)
