Hyderabad Commissioner of Police Kothakota Srinivas Reddy today spoke on the phone-tapping case that has created a sensation in the State.
Speaking to media persons, he said that the investigation into the case was going on.
He clarified that no Red Corner Notice had been issued for Prabhakar Rao, the former chief of the Special Intelligence Bureau, and that only an LOC had been issued for him. He also said that the news that efforts were not being made to catch Prabhakar Rao was untrue, and that the whereabouts of Rao were not yet known. He lamented that the investigation was being disturbed by wrong speculations by several people.
"All the accused in the case acted in a very smart and intelligent manner. Four police officers were involved. We are investigating the case to the best of our ability. Some more policemen have been made witnesses in the case, and the statements of the witnesses have been recorded," he said. "The tapping was also done to disrupt the personal lives of people. Entering into personal lives is a heinous crime," he added.
The probe into the involvement of political leaders in the phone-tapping case would also continue, Reddy said, and added that the details of the investigation would be revealed at an appropriate time.
