The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), on Tuesday, demanded that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh visit Andhra Pradesh to get first-hand knowledge of the turmoil in the State.
Talking to media persons on Tuesday, former state BJP president Bandaru Dattareya said that the Prime Minister's visit was a necessity so that he could order appropriate measures to bring the situation under control.
The senior BJP leader criticised the rule of Chief Minister K Rosaiah, saying that the State is reeling under several problems. He said that the issues of fertilizers and fee reimbursement have compelled farmers and students to take to the streets to fight for their rights.
"The State is reeling under a financial crisis, and besides this, despite ample rains, farmers of the Telangana region are facing a shortage of fertilisers," Dattatreya pointed out.
The BJP leader also wondered if the state was under President's Rule, since Rosaiah was making so many trips to New Delhi to seek advice.
The BJP leader condemned the stony welcome given to the TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu at Pargi while on his way to Mahabubnagar district. However, he demanded that the TDP make its stance over the Telangana issue clear.
