Pre-Paid Auto Service Launched
The service, launched at the Secunderabad Railway Station, will hopefully ensure that passengers are not fleeced by auto-drivers.

Transport Minister Botsa Satyanarayana, on Thursday, inaugurated a pre-paid auto-rickshaw service at the Secunderabad Railway Station.
Talking to media persons, Botsa Satyanarayana said that the prepaid auto-rickshaw service would ensure that passengers are not fleeced by auto-drivers, and that they reach their destinations safely.
Details of both auto-rickshaws and their respective drivers will be registered in the computer billing system, and passengers can contact a police station nearby, should they need any help.
Additional Traffic Police Commissioner C V Anand said that all the auto-rickshaws registered with the service would have special stickers. Their drivers have been provided with uniforms and identity cards.
He said that the system would prevent instances of missing luggage and other complaints, as information about every auto-rickshaw is connected to network, enabling the police to trace any vehicle immediately.
The autos will ply on all routes, covering the entire city, from the Railway Station. Special rates have been fixed according to distance.
City Police Commissioner A K Khan, who was present at the program, said that the service was originally planned during his stint as Additional Commissioner (Traffic), but that it had to be postponed due to several bottlenecks. (INN)
