Government Whip Toorpu Jayaprakash Reddy appealed to Telangana Political Joint Action Committee Chairman Prof M Kodandaram to postpone the 'Telangana March' scheduled to be held on September 30 as Ganesh immersion and International Conference on Biodiversity falls on September 29 and October 1 respectively.
Talking to reporters at the Assembly media point, he feared that the Telangana March might witness incidents of violence along the lines of the Million March held in 2011 and cause law and order problems in the state capital. If the TPJAC did not postpone the Telangana March, he said that Prof Kondandaram will be held responsible for the consequences and that the police would take serious action against him as per the law.
Alleging that Kodandaram was not sincere towards the Telangana cause, Jayaprakash Reddy said that Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy was totally committed to the statehood issue. He said that Kiran Kumar Reddy did not mov the resolution on the Telangana issue in the Assembly as it had no requisite strength. He criticised the Telangana Rashtra Samithi for insisting on the resolution of the Telangana issue and stalling thus the House. He said that it was due to TRS that the Legislative Assembly could not discuss any public issues and the Speaker Nadendla Manohar was forced to adjourn the House for three consecutive days. He accused the TRS of insisting on Telangana resolution in order to get political mileage on it.
At least now, all parties should cooperate with the Speaker and help him run the House in order, he appealed. (INN)
