The police filed cases against 10 persons, including YSR Congress Party Nandyal by-election candidate Silpa Mohan Reddy, in connection with the firing incident at Nandyal today.
The police filed cases following a complaint lodged by TDP leader Abhiruchi Madhu.
In his complaint, Madhu said that YSRCP leader Silpa Chakrapani Reddy, three councillors and Reddy's relatives tried to kill him on Thursday at Hotel Suraj Grand. He said that he protected himself using a coconut-chopping sickle picked up from a coconut water vendor at the spot of the incident.
He said that his gunmen opened fire in the air thinking that Silpa Mohan Reddy's gunmen were about to fire at him.
He demanded that the police arrest Silpa Mohan Reddy immediately.
On the other hand, Mohan Reddy's followers alleged that Madhu had entered into an argument with them when they asked him to remove his car from there. They, too, asked the police to take action against Madhu.
