Slate School Bus Driver Driving Kids Drunk, Arrested
635 autos, 42 vans and 26 school buses were checked, and 313 cases were booked, in a special drive by the police on vehicles carrying school children today.

As part of its "Safety of School Children" campaign, the Hyderabad Traffic Police today conducted a special drive on autos and other vehicles carrying school children in the city.
In the drive, 635 autos, 42 vans and 26 school buses were checked, and 313 cases were booked. 21 drivers found driving without a driving license, and 34 vehicles were seized for various reasons. All auto drivers who were driving in a drunken condition, without a license or in violation of any other serious norms would be chargesheeted and taken to court, and could even be imprisoned apart from being fined, the police said. Their driving licenses could also be suspended temporarily or even permanently, they added.
During the drive, at about 8:40 am near the Taj Mahal Hotel in Abids, the traffic police stopped a mini school bus of "Slate, The School". The cops discovered the bus driver, Sd Wajeed, a 28-year-old man, driving in an inebriated condition. 20 school children were present in the bus, all below 12 years of age. The children were going from Darulshifa to the school. A case was booked against Wajeed for his extremely reckless act. The perturbed police informed the parents of the children about the incident and counselled them to be cautious about the vehicles that they were sending their children to school in.
