Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu conducted a virtual inspection of the national Polavaram project today from his camp office and directed the officials of the irrigation department and the representatives of Triveni and TRANSSTROY corporations to finish the excavation works at the project site by November as it would mostly be a dry season.
During the inspection, officials informed the Chief Minister that precisely 67,786 cubic meters of soil was being excavated on a daily basis on the spillway and spill channel; and from October 24 to 28, around 3,38,928 cubic meters had been dug out.
As per reports, the daily average of the powerhouse excavation stood at 14,832 cubic meters, while 43,444 cubic meters of soil would be dug on an average in November to achieve a monthly target of 13,03,320 in the spillway area, and 1,84,000 cubic meters for a monthly target of 55,20,000 cubic meters at the spill channel.
At the powerhouse excavation site, around 31,333 cubic meters of soil will be drilled out to achieve a monthly target of 9.40 lakh cubic meters.
Representatives of the Triveni corporation informed the Chief Minister that they had deployed 75 additional Volvo trucks, seven large size excavators and 25 Ashok Leyland trucks this week, to perform the tasks.
