Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu today directed officials to launch the spillway concrete works of the national Polavaram Project on December 30.
Conducting a virtual inspection of the national project from AP Secretariat, the Chief Minister said that the officers must take expert advice to start the concrete-laying works. And said that the progress of the multi-purpose project should be made available on the CM dashboard.
The Chief Minister directed the officers to prepare a model project at the project site to educate the people on the it.
Chandrababu Naidu said that the project area had great potential for eco-tourism and asked the officials to prepare necessary proposals to promote tourism by designing accommodation, boating and heli-tourism.
Later, the officials explained Naidu about the progress of the spillway, the approach channel and the pilot channel. Project Superintendent Engineer Ramesh Kumar, present at the project site, said that the work was 72% complete.
Officials also informed him that the NABARD was likely to release funds for Polavaram by December 26.
Minister for Water Resources Devineni Umamaheswara Rao, Water Resources Secretary Sasibushan, engineer-in-chief Venkateswara Rao and others were present.
