Chief Minister Revanth Reddy today lashed out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, alleging that the latter hadn't done any work for the development of Telangana for the last ten years.
The CM participated in a meeting of the Chevella Lok Sabha constituency cadre and addressed them on the steps to be taken for the election campaign.
Speaking on the occasion, Reddy said that Narendra Modi had gotten a bullet train for Gujarat, but did not even bring an MMTS train to Vikarabad in Telangana.
Asking why no funds were given for the development of the Musi Riverfront and the Regional Ring Road (RRR) projects, he alleged that the PM was giving step-motherly treatment to the State.
"Why should the people vote for Modi for a third time when he has failed to allocate funds for the development of our State? Right now, under the Congress government, this is a great opportunity to develop Telangana. Our region will be developed only if Congress candidates are elected in the Lok Sabha elections," Reddy asked, and exuded confidence that the Congress would win 14 out of 17 Lok Sabha seats in Telangana.
He also said that social justice would come only with the Congress.
"The party's candidates have been selected on the basis of everyone's opinions and surveys at the field level. The Chevella, Secunderabad and Malkajigiri Lok Sabha constituencies are related to each other. Ranjith Reddy for Chevella, Sunitha Mahender Reddy for Malkajgiri and Danam Nagender for Secunderabad have been announced as the party's candidates by taking all aspects into consideration," Reddy said.
He also said that the party's performance in the Lok Sabha elections would be a referendum on the 100-day administration of the Congress government in Telangana.
Reddy said that the six guarantees preceding the recent Telangana Assembly elections had been announced at a public meeting in Tukkuguda, and that the Congress was once again going to announce its national-level guarantees at a public meeting in the same premises on April 6 or 7, and that AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge and other top leaders including Rahul Gandhi would attend the meeting.
