As the Centre, the state governments, medical experts, and scientists all continue to hint at the possibility of a third wave of the Covid-19 pandemic, the TTD today appealed to the devotees visiting Tirumala to follow all the prescribed safety and prevention guidelines without fail.
The temple body has expressed its annoyance at those devotees seen roaming about Tirumala's open spaces without wearing masks and maintaining social distancing norms. It has appealed to all visitors to strictly follow all the relevant rules.
Some days ago, the TTD made quite the splash when it announced that it had decided to
sell incense sticks made out of the sacred garlands being used in all the temples run by the body.
In this regard, TTD Executive Officer Dr K S Jawahar Reddy had organised a review meeting at his chambers at the TTD administrative building in Tirupati last month. There, he had directed the officials concerned to start the process of selling the special incense sticks made out of used garlands from August 15.
He had said that in the first phase, the "sacred incense sticks" would be sold to devotees near the laddu prasadam counters in Tirumala, and in subsequent phases would be made available at other locations as well.
