In a unique and an innovative initiative to aid recycling, the TTD has decided to brighten up the homes of hundreds f devotees with the fragrance of incense sticks made out of the floral garlands used across all the temples run by the body.
In this regard, TTD Executive Officer Dr K S Jawahar Reddy today organised a review meeting at his chambers at the TTD administrative building in Tirupati, and directed the officials concerned to start the process of selling the special incense sticks made out of used garlands from August 15.
The EO said that Darshan International Limited, a leading incense sticks manufacturer from Karnataka, had come forward to manufacture the incense sticks and that officials had been instructed to commence the distribution of the same from August 15.
He said that in the first phase, the "sacred incense sticks" would be sold to devotees near the laddu prasadam counters in Tirumala, and in subsequent phases would be made available at other locations as well.
Later, the EO also reviewed the strengthening of the TTD's SV Ayurvedic Pharmacy.
The officials at the pharmacy informed him that the Centre had already cleared 115 products made by the pharmacy for use and that 70 more were currently under review.
Reddy also met the officials of the SV Dairy Farm and directed them to take up the manufacture of 15 new products.
