Telangana Revenue and Housing Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy today made sensational remarks regarding the ongoing issue of phone-tapping.
He claimed that phone-tapping was not just in the past and was still continuing in Telangana, and that the government was taking the matter very seriously.
Addressing a press conference at S R Convention Hall in Khammam, the minister said, "We will not overlook any violation of democratic freedoms. Many individuals are raising concerns over phone-tapping, and it is indeed happening. Irregularities continue even now. The State government is conducting a thorough inquiry into these issues, focusing on those behind the activity and the sites where devices have been installed. We will uncover the truth, and the law will take its course."
He added that stringent action would be taken against those found guilty.
He also expressed optimism about the Congress' prospects in the upcoming elections, scheduled for Wednesday, to 116 municipalities and seven municipal corporations. He said that the party had consistently fulfilled its commitments over the past two years and had remained connected with the public, and that the voters would reward that.
"This dedication will help the Congress secure over 80% of the seats in these municipal elections," he said.
