Congress MP V Hanumantha Rao on Friday requested Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar to impose a life ban on Vijayawada MP Lagadapati Rajagopal and other MPs who had acted violently in the Lok Sabha on Thursday.
Speaking to media persons in the Assembly premises here, VHR said that the actions of Seemandhra MPs, especially Lagadapati, were highly unpardonable. He demanded that stern action like a life ban be imposed on the MPs, debarring them from contesting elections in future.
VHR also alleged that Lagadapati and YSRCP chief Jaganmohan Reddy had accumulated wealth through dubious and illegal means and are now trying to use the same wealth to stop the formation of Telangana. He alleged that Lagadapati was involved in cheating several banks as well.
The Congress MP also asked as to why Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy did not submit his resignation even after the introduction of the Telangana Bill in Lok Sabha. Referring to the previous statements of the Chief Minister, VHR said that Kiran Kumar Reddy had issued empty threats to pressurise the Congress High Command. He alleged that Reddy was clearing several files by sticking to the post. and demanded an enquiry into the files cleared by him in the recent past, including the allotment of assigned lands.
VHR also alleged that the Seemandhra leaders are misleading the people of their region. "On one hand, they are protesting against the state's bifurcation, while on the other hand, they are purchasing huge chunks of land in Seemandhra with a clear mind that the Telangana state will be a reality soon," he said.
