A local court in Mahabubnagar district on Monday issued an arrest warrant against actor Pawan Kalyan, brother of film actor and Praja Rajyam Party president K Chiranjeevi, for violating the election code.
The court issued the arrest warrant against Pawan Kalyan as he had not appeared before it in connection with a poll violation code filed by an advocate in the Vanaparthi area of the district.
According to official sources, the actor is charged with making abusive remarks against the Congress candidate during a campaign for the 2009 Assembly elections.
Earlier, the local court and the High Court had quashed the case against the actor. Pawan Kalyan had, at that time, deposed before the Courts.
However, the lawyer filed the case again in the Mahabubnagar court, which sent notices to Pawan a few months ago.
Monday's warrant against the actor was issued after he had failed to turn up before the court despite the summons.
