Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan called upon the farmers of the state to revolt against the Andhra Pradesh government if it tried to grab their lands forcibly in the name of capital city construction, development and road widening, and assured them that he would stand by them in this regard.
Kalyan met the farmers who are losing their lands as part of the capital city construction, at Undavalli in Guntur district on Sunday. Speaking to him, the farmers lamented that the government was forcefully taking their lands though they did not want to part with their lands. They asked Kalyan how they could live after losing their lands.
Reacting on that, Kalyan said that the government could acquire lands only if the farmers who owned them agreed to it. He asked the government how it could take the lands in which 120 types of crops could be cultivated, from the farmers forcefully. He said that the government had branded him as anti-development when he brought the plight of the land owners to its notice, and vowed that he would wage a movement against the government if it took lands forcefully from the farmers. He said that he would have not supported the TDP if he expected this sort of exploitation of farmers in the name of capital city construction.
