YSR Congress honorary president Y S Vijayamma, on Friday, said that former chief minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy had dreamed of developing the backward Telangana region on par with Seemandhra.
Participating in a road show at Geesukonda in the Parkal Assembly constituency in Warangal, as part of her election campaign, Vijayamma claimed that YSR had planned to develop the Telangana region in all the sectors, particularly in agriculture, and that he had accorded top priority to the region's irrigation projects.
She added that after his sudden demise, the government had completely ignored according a national project status to Pranahitha-Chevella Project.
She accused the Congress and the government of sending her son Jaganmohan Reddy to jail fearing defeat in the ensuing by-elections.
Vijayamma claimed that although the CBI has been probing the disproportionate assets case for the past 9 months, the probing agency did not find a single piece of evidence against Jagan.
She appealed to Parkal's voters to elect Konda Surekha, who, she said, had resigned for the cause of a Telangana state.
Vijayamma said that she respects the sentiments and aspiration of the Telangana people, and said that YSR Congress had even moved a resolution in its plenary in this regard.
Earlier, Vijayamma observed a one-minute silence, in tribute to those who died for the cause of Telangana. (INN)
