Pallam Raju Discusses T Issue With KK
Sources say that the Telangana issue was discussed since Keshava Rao had set the Centre a deadline of December 9 for the statehood subject to be resolved.
Union minister for Human Resource Development M M Pallam Raju met senior Congress leader K Keshava Rao on Tuesday, in Hyderabad.
The leaders reportedly discussed the latest political situation in the state in view of the MIM having withdrawn its support to the Congress government.
However, certain sources say that the Telangana issue was discussed since Keshava Rao had set the Centre a deadline of December 9 for the statehood subject to be resolved.
The former PCC president reportedly informed Pallam Raju that he would write a letter to Congress president Sonia Gandhi asking her to resolve the matter by December 9 "at the latest".
It may be mentioned here that pro-Telangana parties have called for the observance of December 9 as "cheating day" to mark the third anniversary of the announcement made by the then Union Home Minister P Chidambaram - he had announced then that the Centre would begin the process of formation of a Telangana atate. Soon after, the Centre had withdrawn its statements, citing a lack of consensus.
The meeting between Pallam Raju and KK assumes significance in view of reports that the latter is getting closer to Telangana Rashtra Samithi president K Chandrasekhar Rao.
However, both the leaders did not disclose the details of what transpired between them. (INN)
