More than 91% of about 2.32 lakh students who had registered, appeared for the maiden EAMCET (Engineering, Agriculture and Medicine Common Entrance Test) conducted by the Telangana government at 423 centres across the state on Thursday.
Of 139,682 candidates who had registered for the engineering stream entrance, 128,174 or 91.76% appeared for the exam held at 251 centres across Telangana from 10 am to 1 pm.
Similarly, 84,678 or 91.68% of 92,362 candidates in who had registered for the entrance to the agriculture and medical streams wrote the test at 172 centres from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm.
About 1.13 lakh aspirants for both the streams appeared for the entrance exam in Hyderabad.
The examinations were successfully conducted by the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University - Hyderabad.
The preliminary key will be declared on May 16, while the last date for receiving objections to the key will be May 23. The ranks will be declared on May 28.
At several centres, the candidates were not allowed into the examination hall as they were late by a minute. The thumb impressions of the candidates were taken on the nominal rolls as well as in the online application forms, for verification of the genuineness of the candidates. (INN)
