The girls' pass percentage was much higher that that of the boys.
Girls outperformed boys in the Intermediate Second Year examinations, whose results were released on Saturday.
Of 954,156 candidates in the general category, as many as 801,419 were regular candidates and 152,737 were private candidates.
Of them, 525,526 regular candidates, or 65.57% of them, and 44,045 private candidates, or 28.83% of them, passed the exams.
The girls' pass percentage was much higher that that of the boys. While 69.52% girls in the general and 33.38% in the private category cleared the exams, the boys' pass percentage was 61.87% in the general and 26.93% in the private category.
A total of 229 cases of malpractice were booked, and the results of 88 candidates have been withheld.
The overall pass percentage in vocational courses was 60.70% - the pass percentages were 68.31% and 53.92% for girls and boys respectively. While 30 students were booked for malpractices here, the results of 93 other candidates have been withheld.
The results were announced by Advisor to Governor Salauddin Ahmed in the presence of Principal Secretary (Education Depatment) Rajeshwar Tiwari and Board of Intermediate Secretary Ram Shankar Naik at the BIE office at Nampally.
Ahmed informed that this year's overall pass percentage was a little over than that of the previous year (65.36%).
In the general category, about 50.33% candidates secured the A Grade (more than 75% marks), 31.72% got a B Grade (60-75% marks); 13.45% got a C Grade (50-60% marks), and 4.51% secured a D Grade (35-50%).
In the General category, Krishna district topped with 82% passing, followed by Visakhapatnam and Nellore with 76% passing. Adilabad and Medak had the lowest pass percentage of 49.
For the vocational courses, Srikakulam was on top with a pass percentage of 84, while Mahabubnagar had the least pass percentage of 44.
The Governor's Advisor said that the Principals would collect the Memoranda of Marks and the Tabulation records from the Regional Inspection Officers on May 7, and that the Memoranda of Marks would thereupon be given to the candidates.
Discrepancies, if any, found in the Memorandum of Marks by a candidate should be referred to the Board through the concerned Principal before June 1, he added.
The Second Year Intermediate Advanced Supplementary Examinations, May/June 2014, will be held from May 25 between 2:30pm and 5:30pm, and the last date for the payment of the examination fee is May 9.
The last date for the online payment of the fee towards recounting / photocopy-cum-reverification is May 9. (INN)
