Telangana Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao today lashed out at the Opposition Parties for making deliberate, persistent attempts at cornering the TRS government through malicious comments.
The Opposition Parties were indulging in a misinformation propaganda during the Warangal election campaigning for their survival, he charged.
Addressing a public meeting as part of election campaigning at Deshaipet under the Warangal parliamentary constituency, Rao appealed to the people to vote in favour of TRS candidate Pasunuri Dayakar, who he claimed would address their problems.
The minister ridiculed the Congress and the Telugu Desam Party - BJP combine for "hiring" candidates and fielding them, as they could not find suitable local leaders to contest the Warangal byelection.
While the Congress had roped in former MP Sarve Satyanarayana from elsewhere (he was the Malkajgiri MP earlier), the TDP-BJP combine had imported an NRI for the election, he taunted.
"These Parties, which failed to address the people's problems, have no moral right to seek votes," he also stated.
Rao sought to know why Congress leaders Uttam Kumar Reddy and Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka had kept mum when the then Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy had refused a single rupee for Telangana in the former united AP Assembly. Now they could not tolerate the welfare and other developmental programmes being taken up by the TRS government, he alleged.
Deputy Speaker Padma Devender Reddy, MP Gundu Sudha Rani, MLA Konda Surekha and MLC Venkateshwarlu were present at the meeting.
