Even as the Hyderabad High Court bifurcation issue took a new turn and got to the notice of the Centre and the Supreme Court with some 11 judges in Hyderabad being placed under suspension for staging protests, Union Law Minister Sadananda Gowda today reacted strongly against Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao for his remarks that the Centre was delaying taking a decision with regard to the bifurcation of the Hyderabad High Court.
Talking to mediapersons in Delhi along with Union Labour Minister Bandaru Dattatreya, who also sought his intervention for the High Court's bifurcation, Gowda said that KCR was making comments like Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal against the Centre, and invited him to also sit on a dharna at Jantar Mantar in Delhi if he liked, like the latter frequently did. He added that the people of Telangana would respond to KCR if he criticized the Centre.
Gowda said that the Centre had no role in the HC bifurcation matter, and that he could not speak on the issue which was sub-judice in the High Court. He also said that according to the terms of the A P Reorganization Act 2014, it was for Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu to take a call on the matter and to provide facilities and infrastructure for the purpose.
"I spoke to the two Telugu Chief Ministers, and the Andhra Pradesh government has to decide on the issue," he said.
However, the Law Minister said that he would write to the Chief Justice of India and the Governor of the two States on the issue of the lawyers being on the warpath in Hyderabad.
His remarks of displeasure came at a time when a perturbed KCR is planning to go in for a massive protest at Delhi to mount pressure on the Centre for a speedy bifurcation of the High Court.
