Telangana Political JAC Chairman M Kodandaram gave a shock to Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao by filing an "implied petition" in the Hyderabad High Court on the farmers' suicides in Telangana.
Kodandaram filed the petition on behalf of the Telangana Vidyavanthula Vedika, on Tuesday.
It may be recalled that a week ago, the Vyavasaya Jana Chaithanya Samithi (VJCS) had filed a petition in the High Court on the farmers' suicides in the State. In its petition, VJCS alleged that the TRS government's policies were driving the farmers to commit suicides, and that the suicides were taking place due the State government's inaction.
The High Court is scheduled to examine the VJCS petition on Tuesday, but Kodandaram filed an implied petition in the Court before that.
Kodandaram alleged that the Telangana government's policies were driving the farmers towards suicides, and that the suicides were increasing with time. The government was not bothered about the Swaminathan Committee report, he added.
"The Government should have taken steps to curb suicides. I have conducted a comprehensive survey on it. I have a full report regarding it," Kodandaram mentioned in the petition.
