Telangana TDP Working President A Revanth Reddy today slammed the State government for setting an eligibility criteria for the Double Bed Room (DBR) scheme, even though all of the applicants were poor.
Speaking to the media at the TDLP office, Revanth Reddy pointed out that only 51,954 persons were eligible for the DBR project, and sought to know how the figure of eligible persons came down when there were lakhs of poor people in villages.
The TDP leader said that so far 10.70 lakh people have applied under the double bed room scheme, and as per the comprehensive survey conducted by the State government, it was found that 22 lakh people had no housing facilities. But now this figure has come down to 52,000, he said.
Reddy demanded that the government clarify on the issue before inaugurating the Erravalli housing program. According to government figures, so far only 1,000 houses had been constructed. If the poor were not being provided houses, the Party would launch a protest, he warned.
