The first anniversary celebrations of Telangana State will be conducted for seven days across the state in a grand manner reflecting its culture and tradition, from June 2 to 7.
Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao will inaugurate the celebrations on Necklace Road at Tank Bund on the evening of June 2 instead of on June 1 at Parade Grounds in Hyderabad.
Fire crackers will mark the occasion at Peoples' Plaza on June 2 at 8 pm.
Bathukamma, Bonalu and a number of cultural programs at all districts will be conducted on the occasion.
The Government's cultural wing, Telangana Sanskritika Sarathi, will play a key role in the event, that will culminate at Tank Bund on June 7 in the evening. Rallies from the various districts will come to Hyderabad for the June 7 denouement.
Chief Secretary Dr Rajiv Sharma today held a video conference with Collectors at the Secretariat on the statehood celebrations. Information Commissioner B P Acharya and Sanskrithika Sarathi Chairman Rasamayi Balakishan were present.
Sharma asked the Collectors to erect Telangana martyrs' memorials in their respective districts' headquarters, and officials in Hyderabad to erect the state's logo at all shops and private establishments besides illuminating Raj Bhavan, Secretariat, Lumbini Park, Hussain Sagar, Necklace Road, Metro Rail pillars and main office buildings.
CDs will be distributed across the state that are likely to focus on the TRS Government's one year rule and its flagship programs - drinking water, lake restoration, greenery etc. (NSS)
