One woman was killed and at least 40 persons were injured, in different road mishaps across Andhra Pradesh, on Monday.
In a road mishap at Rajupalem (Kodavalur mandal, Nellore district), one woman died on the spot, and 25 others suffered injuries. The deceased has been identified as Ganga Bhavani of Anakapalle in Visakhapatnam district. The accident took place when a private travel agency bus heading towards Vijayawada from Tirupati turned turtle.
Among the injured, the condition of 6 people is stated to be serious. All the injured are undergoing treatment at the government hospital in Nellore.
In another accident, an APSRTC bus overturned at Kolanukonda (Tadepalle mandal, Guntur district), injuring 15 persons. All the injured were admitted to the government hospital in Vijayawada, for treatment. The mishap took place when the bus was heading towards Vijayawada from Venkatagiri (Nellore district).
Meanwhile, chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy took a serious note on the increasing number of road accidents in the state, and directed district collectors and superintendents of police to provide all help and better medical facilities to the injured. He also directed the Road Transport Authorities to find ways and means to prevent the frequent road accidents. (INN)
