One Job Per Household Soon

A host of proposals were cleared on Saturday during the visit of Jairam Ramesh, Union Minister For Rural Development, to Hyderabad.
Hyderabad | 6th August 2011
The Ministry of Rural Development on Saturday agreed to release Rs. 120 crore over the next 3 years for providing at least one job per household in LWE (Left Wing Extremism) districts as part of the Rajiv Education And Employment Mission of AP.

A host of proposals were cleared on Saturday during the visit of Jairam Ramesh, Union Minister For Rural Development, to Hyderabad.

Among these proposals is the provision of Rs. 10 crore from the MPLAD funds for improving storage facilities in tribal areas of the LWE districts of Khammam and Adilabad.

The Centre would assist in setting up a specialised funding mechanism for rural poor SHGs through SHG federations for addressing their emergency credit requirements.

Paralegal assistance centres will be set up in 8 districts for resolving the 6 lakh land issues identified among the rural poor. An amount of Rs. 90 crore that is required for this would be provided over a period of 3 years from the Department Of Land's resources.

The Nutritional Day Care Centre (NDCC) intervention will be extended to all the LWE districts on a saturation mode, with the assistance of the NRLM.

Proposals for establishing the inter-state road network in the tri-junction of the state costing Rs. 1,600 crore will be examined.

The proposal for all-weather connectivity for Category II (7,476 km, costing Rs. 2,616 crore) will be considered for funding under the World Bank assisted project, as it was not funded under the PMGSY so far.

The proposal for extending the IAP funding for LWE districts for another 2 years will be considered as well.

A special project will be prepared for improving infrastructure in the tribal areas so that standards of governance can be improved. SERP will implement a special project for capacity building of SHGs to improve overall performance.

The Centre will extend support to the implementation of Bhubararathi in Khammam and Adilabad districts.

All Capital Expenditure in MGNREGS like expenses related to IT and Smart Card will be exempted from the 6% administration costs. (INN)
