The Telangana government had so far given approvals to 3,451 companies which had proposed a cumulative investment of Rs. 58,341 crores and projected an employment potential of 2.20 lakhs, according to Finance Minister Etela Rajender.
Out of these, 1,097 units had already commenced production providing employment to 43,075 persons, he said.
Notable among these companies were Boeing, ITC, Tata Sikorsky, HSIL, Toshiba and Micromax, he said.
Due to the pro-active and investor-friendly policies of the government, world renowned IT companies were also establishing their units in Hyderabad, Rajender added. Telangana accounted for 12% of India's IT exports and stood second in the country, he claimed. Last year, IT exports from the state amounted to Rs. 75,070 crores, and IT companies in the state were providing employment to nearly four lakh people.
