Indefinite Curfew Imposed In Rajendranagar

The police have imposed an indefinite curfew in Rajendranagar of the Old City following incidents of communal violence and near-riots in the area.

Following incidents of communal violence on Wednesday morning, Cyberabad Police Commissioner C V Anand has imposed indefinite curfew in the Rajendranagar Police Station limits.

Anand said that the decision to impose curfew in the Rajendranagar PS limits was taken after reviewing the situation carefully and in order to maintain public order, peace and tranquility.

The curfew will remain in force from 10am on Wednesday till further orders are issued.

Meanwhile, speaking to media persons, Hyderabad Police Commissioner Anurag Sharma said that Governor E S L Narasimhan himself reviewed the situation, and directed police officials to ensure that the incident did not have any further repercussions.

Sharma said that all steps were being taken to maintain peace, law and order in the city. (INN)
