MIM president and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi, on Wednesday, condemned the communal clashes that broke out in Mohammedabad near Kishanbagh in the Rajendranagar police limits.
In a media statement, Owaisi alleged that some miscreants attacked the residents of Arsh Mahal with swords and daggers, and burnt several vehicles, on Wednesday morning.
"The residents of Arsh Mahal pelted stones in self-defence, to save themselves from the attackers. In the meantime, police reinforcements rushed to the spot. Instead of controlling the assailants who were brandishing swords and attacking people of the other community indiscriminately, the police personnel from the central para-military forces opened fire on the residents of the locality, in which 3 youth were killed on the spot and a dozen others were injured," he said, adding that the condition of 3-4 victims of the police firing was critical.
Owaisi accused the police, including the central para-military forces, of taking the law into their own hands.
"Instead of using the usual methods like lathi-charge, teargas shells and rubber bullets, they directly opened fire on the youth, aiming bullets at their chests. It is also not clear who had ordered the police firing, and whether the central paramilitary forces had acted on the advice of the local police or obtained the order for firing from a magistrate," he said.
The MIM President demanded a full-fledged judicial inquiry by a sitting High Court Judge into the incidents that took place in the Mohammedabad area, including the police firing.
Owaisi urged Governor E S L Narasimhan to direct the Director-General of Police to take stringent action against the police personnel, whether local or from the central forces, by ordering the filing of an FIR against them.
"I would request you to call for the records, including vehicle log books, wireless communication transcripts, mobile records of individual police officers, the details of battalion or company of the central paramilitary forces deployed at the spot, who was the unit commander and who ordered the firing, whether any magistrate was present, whether any warning was given in the local language before the police firing and the number of rounds of police firing etc.," he said.
