The police nabbed 2 computer thieves who had committed as many as 40 burglaries in the city.
Police on Monday nabbed 2 notorious house burglars and seized 88 CPUs and 92 Monitors, besides a laptop and a car worth about Rs. 13.5 lakh.
According to Punjagutta police, the 2 thieves, Mirza Mujeebullah Baig and Iqbal Madani, used to break into internet cafes, educational institutes and offices, and steal the computers during early morning hours.
They are said to have been involved in about 40 such offences.
The police revealed that they were caught when they were travelling in a car along with some of the stolen property on Raj Bhavan Road.
When the police grew suspicious and questioned them, they could not give satisfactory answers, leading them to be taken to the police station for further questioning.
During interrogation, the duo revealed that they had taken to stealing the computers for easy money.
The gang had committed as many as 40 computer theft offences in the limits of Hyderabad as well as Cyberabad.
They targeted Asifnagar, Bowenpally, Chikkadpally, Humayun Nagar, Kachiugda, KPHB, Kukatpally, Langerhouse, Lallaguda, Malakpet, Nallakunta, Narayanguda, Panjagutta, Saidabad, Saifabad, S R Nagar and Sultan Bazar areas.
The accused, along with their associates, will be produced before a court.
