Notorious Cat Burglar Nabbed, Loot Seized
The police today nabbed Mantri Shankar, an auto driver of the Chilkalguda area in Secunderabad, and recovered gold ornaments, cash and a Bajaj Avenger.

The police today nabbed a notorious cat burglar Mantri Shankar, an auto driver of the Chilkalguda area in Secunderabad, and recovered gold ornaments weighing 370 grams, cash of Rs 3,20,000 and a Bajaj Avenger from him.
Shankar, an expert in breaking and entering, was involved in over 250 house burglaries, and was in the most wanted list of the Hyderabad and Rachakonda Police Commissionerates. After being released from jail in the last week of October 2017, he committed even more house burglaries, usually during the nights between 1 am and 4 am, along with his associate Obaid, a rowdy sheeter of Kalapather. Shankar used to select densely populated areas in the Old City while Obaid provided him shelter in the houses of his relatives.
The modus operandi was that Obaid used to drop Shankar on a motorcycle in the chosen locality and kept a watch, and Shankar completed his task of committing the theft. After committing theft, he used to wait on the terrace of the buildings till the morning walkers came out, and then move out under their cover. With the loot, he had been living a lavish life with his girlfriends. A father of six children, Shankar has two wives, with a third having expired.
Shankar committed offences mostly in the Bowenpally, Begumpet, Marredpally, Karkhana and OU police station areas.
The accused along with the recovered property was handed over to the Saidabad Police Station. The arrest was made under the supervision of S Chaitanya Kumar, Addl DCP, Commissioner's Task Force, Hyderabad City, and by K Madhu Mohan Reddy, Inspector, South Zone.
