A special ACB court that is dealing with the sensational cash for vote scam involving TPCC head and Malkajgiri MP A Revanth Reddy today conducted another hearing on the case.
Reddy and several other persons linked to infamous scam attended the hearing - the other accused in the matter, Bishop Sebastian Harry and Udaya Sinha, were also present.
The court recorded the statement of the returning officer for the MLC election during which the Congress leader had attempted to "buy" votes, former Assembly Secretary Sada Rajaram. Rajaram gave a detailed report of the speeches made by Reddy and former TDP MLA Sandra Venkata Veeraiah in the Assembly.
Yesterday, too, the court had recorded the statements of other persons of interest in the matter.
After the hearing, the special court asked that more details be furnished about the incident before adjourning the case till September 6.
Reddy has been embroiled in what seems to be a
never-ending legal battle over the matter for years now. He and various others were accused of crimes under the Prevention of Corruption Act and section 120B (criminal conspiracy) of the IPC for their involvement in an instance of attempted vote-buying in May 2015 after Telangana nominated MLA Elvis Stephenson lodged a complaint with the ACB alleging that he was offered Rs 5 crores by Reddy to vote in favour of a TDP MLC nominee in the Legislative Council elections held on June 1 that year.
