YSR Congress Party MLAs from the Kurnool district of Andhra Pradesh have rubbished the rumours that they were going to defect to the ruling TDP.
The MLAs rushed to Hyderabad and met Party chief Y S Jaganmohan Reddy at the Lotus Pond Party office on Saturday. MLAs S V Mohan Reddy, Gouru Charitha Reddy, Jayaramulu, Budda Rajashekar Reddy and Ijayya were present before the Party supremo at the meeting.
Speaking to the media later, Mohan Reddy said that the news about their defecting was utterly false, and that the rumours were being spread to divert the people's attention from the TDP misrule.
They said that they had won the elections on YSRCP tickets, and would remain with the Party under any circumstances. They asseverated that they had complete trust on their Party chief Y S Jaganmohan Reddy.
Budda Rajasekhar Reddy, too, clarified that no YSRCP MLA from Kurnool would leave the Party, and that this fact had been reiterated several times earlier. He lamented that the pro-TDP media was fabricating stories and resorting to a misinformation propaganda against the YSRCP.
"This is nothing but a mind game by Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu. Naidu has been continuously unleashing misinformation against the YSRCP to make the Party insecure. Did the TDP fulfil even one promise made on the eve of the last Assembly elections? And in Telangana it is almost extinct due to its unpopularity. The media should not dance to the tunes of such a Party. We have great respect for the media, and it should uphold its dignity," he added.
Another YSRCP MLA Gouru Charita Reddy again asserted that all the legislators would remain with Jaganmohan Reddy. She also accused the ruling Party of completely neglecting the Rayalaseema region.
Separately, Ongole MP Y V Subba Reddy also said that none of the YSR Congress MLAs were leaving the Party. He said that the TDP was playing a mind game. Party leaders Vijay Sai Reddy, Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy and himself had met Nandyal MLA Bhuma Nagireddy, and Bhuma had clearly told them that the media reports were untrue, he claimed.
