A significant development has emerged in the MLA defection case. Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar today issued notices to Station Ghanpur MLA Kadiyam Srihari, directing him to appear for a hearing at 11 am tomorrow (February 4).
BRS MLA Vivekananda had filed a complaint with the Speaker alleging that Srihari, who was elected on the BRS symbol, had defected to the Congress. In this connection, the Speaker has also issued notices to Vivekananda asking him to attend the hearing scheduled for the same time.
The Speaker will hear arguments from both Srihari and Vivekananda. Political circles are keenly awaiting the Speaker's verdict in Srihari's case.
So far, the Speaker has given clean chits to seven of the 10 MLAs whose petitions have come up for hearing, ruling that they continued to remain with the BRS and had not joined the Congress.
However, MLA Danam Nagender's petition is still under examination, and no decision has yet been taken in the case of another MLA, Sanjay Kumar.
