On the eve of International Women's Day, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao conveyed his greetings to the women in the State.
The CM said that his government was taking several measures for the welfare of women, and more new and innovative programs for them would be launched this year. The women should avail themselves of the benefits of these programs and schemes of the government and move forward, he said.
The Chief Minister also said that an important decision had been taken to give an increased role for women in governance, by giving nominated posts to the women who had played an active role in the Telangana statehood movement and also to those who in the movements for women's upliftment. He said that he had constituted a three-member committee to select women candidates for the posts of chairpersons of certain corporations and for other nominated posts.
The committee consists of Deputy Speaker Padma Devender Reddy, Karimnagar ZP Chairperson Tula Uma and Nizamabad MP Kavita Kalvakuntla. The CM has asked the committee to prepare a list of the women eligible for the posts.
